As a client, you assume responsibility for carefully choosing a therapist with whom you can work.
Most people find therapists or counselors by calling their insurance company for referrals and/or calling a therapist listed on their insurance provider panel. It is the client's responsibility to negotiate with their insurance company concerning payment for therapy services.
Counseling services are confidential and records are released only with the consent of the client or by a court order. Some minimal information such as the diagnostic category is usually shared with the insurance company. Concerns about confidentiality can be discussed with the therapist or counselor.
